SPEAKER PROFILE

Mr Harcharan is the Head of HSE for the Building Material Group, a subsidiary of Sunway Berhad. He received his Electrical Engineering training in HMS Collingwood, United Kingdom, a training establishment centre for the Royal Navy. He retired from the Navy in 1991 and joined Sunway Berhad. He currently heads Sunway Building Material Group’s Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives and is responsible for the safety and health efforts at all the seven manufacturing plants under the group. He is also a qualified IMS Lead Auditor and possesses a Safety Green Book from the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Malaysia. He has more than 30 years of Industrial Safety experience and is active in promulgating best safety and health practices. In his spare time, he participates in programmes led by the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health to promote a vision of zero harm at the workplace.
